OUR GLOBAL CAMPUS

UCLA is a highly global university, with faculty in every academic and professional field strongly involved in studying the world, major research centers covering global processes and all regions of the planet, and a highly international student population. Check out this wonderful video presented by UCLA Global on what makes UCLA a global university: http://global.ucla.edu/global/home

Additionally, the University has embarked on a new effort to help students, scholars, and visitors navigate the international resources at UCLA. To learn more, please visit UCLA’s global portal at: http://global.ucla.edu/portal/home

Institutes, Centers, and Programs across UCLA

  • UCLA International Institute

The UCLA International Institute is the central hub for global and area studies at UCLA since 1958. The UCLA International Institute provides an administrative and thematic nucleus for UCLA’s programs of teaching and research in international education. At our core is a cluster of multidisciplinary centers and programs focusing on major world regions and global issues. Our educational mission encompasses activities dedicated to teaching, research and community service.  See the linked list below:

  • Burkle Center for International Relations

Mission: The Burkle Center fosters research on and promotes discussion of international relations, U.S. foreign policy, and complex issues of global cooperation and conflict. We bring the brightest minds in these fields to UCLA and encourage faculty and students to explore and shape debate.

  • Program on International Migration

About: The UCLA Center for the Study of International Migration seeks to foster research and instruction on international migration. In our view, the study of migration is like the process of migration itself: an activity that cuts across boundaries, in this case intellectual, and therefore one best pursued by drawing insights and methods from a variety of disciplines.

  • Asia Institute

Mission: The Asia Institute advances collaborative, interdisciplinary research on Asia worldwide to further our understanding of the global transformations of which we are all a part. Its programs cover East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Central Asia, fostering innovative research, graduate training, international collaborations, and public programs that cross conventional political and geographical boundaries to promote greater knowledge and understanding of Asia at UCLA and in the wider academic and public communities. The Asia Institute is designated as a National Resource Center on East Asia under the US Department of Education’s Title VI program.
