Global Environment and Resources
Students who pursue a certificate in Global Environment and Resources will examine the ways in which the causes and effects of environmental degradation are at once local and global. Global common pool challenges such as climate change now link many domestic policy decisions to global consequences. As global urbanization and development, resource use is increasing. Major global migrations are driven by environmental degradation. Students must be able to think critically and communicate effectively about how to address global environmental issues and processes.
Students are also encouraged to look into the campus-wide Leaders in Sustainability certificate (LIS). LIS provides students who are interested in sustainability issues the opportunity to collaborate with students from different fields across UCLA. Some of you may want to pursue BOTH a certificate in Global Environment and Resources AND a Leaders in Sustainability certificate, as certain courses fulfill both certificate requirements.
