JiaHui Zhang
MPP’ 17, GPA Certificate: Global Environment & Resources
Jiahui is a graduate student from the department of Public Policy. Having grown up in northern China, she spent two years in South China University of Technology (SCUT) in Guangzhou majoring in public administration, and then went to Rutgers University in New Jersey as an exchange student.
She worked as a volunteer for the Simuel Whitfield Simmons Organization in New Jersey, selling clothes to raise funds for the local community. She had internships in the Family Planning Bureau of Luanxian (China) to do research on one-child policy and its social impact as well as a changing trend of the policy. She also had an internship at the Government Relations Department of Fonterra Yutian Farm, a Chinese branch of Fonterra—the multinational dairy company based in New Zealand. Seeing the piled animal waste, smelling the odor from a fetid river, hearing about the inefficiency of the disposal of animal waste, she began to take an interest in environmental policy.
She is currently pursuing a GPA certificate in Global Environment and Resources, hoping to gain a global perspective regarding environment issues.
