Chika Fukugama

MPP’ 17, GPA Certificate: Global Environment and Resources

Chika is an international student from Japan.  After she earned her bachelor’s degree of agriculture from the University of Tokyo in 2012,  she worked in the Fisheries Agency of Japan for three years.  Her major task was the negotiation for the sustainable fisheries resource management in the intergovernmental organizations such as the Commission for the Conservation on Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) and the Commission for the Conservation on Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT).  In the Master of Public Policy program, her current concentration is therefore the management of “common” natural resources similar to fish in the global context. Furthermore, she is pursuing a GPA certificate in Global Environment and Resources to obtain the broader perspective about environmental issues.  After finishing her MPP, she will go back to Fisheries Agency of Japan and apply environmental knowledge gained at Luskin to future international fisheries management.
