Salon Series led by Professor Michael Storper
In this Salon, we will explore the recent rise of nationalism , tribalism and identity politics. We will discuss the different origins they have, forms they take and their wide range of political affiliations, from Barcelona to Budapest, from Brexit to Trump, from Russia to India. The idea of a global human community is under challenge from more traditional forms of seeking community and identity. But some forms of this identity-seeking are more compatible with globalization than others. Understanding these communitarian forces and how they will shape politics and policy-making is now a critical challenge to globalists.
